Permanent Hair Reduction
The BBL light energy is selectively absorbed by the pigment in the follicles. It is converted to heat which loosens the hair and damages the cells responsible for growing new hair while protecting the surrounding skin structures. The BBL treats multiple hairs meaning it can be used not only on small areas like the face, but on larger areas such as the chest, back, shoulders, arms, and legs.
Frequently Asked Questions: BBL Hair Reduction
How many treatments will I need?
You may need 6-8 treatments at intervals of 4-6 weeks. Of the 3 phases of hair growth, only hairs in the active growth phase can be treated. Larger areas may also require a few extra treatments.
What should be done prior to treatment?
Before a consultation, you should leave the area unshaved so that the color and texture of your hair can be determined. When it's decided you are a good candidate for treatment, the area should be shaved. Please avoid waxing, tweezing, or bleaching.
What's post treatment like?
Following treatment, you may experience some redness or slight swelling. This generally lasts only an hour or two. Any discomfort can be alleviated with a cold compress or mild analgesic. You can shower with cool water 8 to 12 hours after treatment.
How will I see results?
The unwanted hair begins to fall out in 1 to 2 weeks. During this period, it's important to keep the area clean and use sunscreen if outdoors. Treated areas may be shaven only after 3 days post treatment.
